Vauhini Vara has written, as a freelance journalist, for The Atlantic, Harper’s, and
elsewhere. Previously, she worked as a reporter for The Wall Street Journal and as an
editor and writer for The New Yorker’s website. She is an O. Henry Prize–winning
fiction writer, with short stories published in McSweeney’s, Tin House, and other
publications. She has won honors from the International Journalists’ Programmes,
The Rona Jaffe Foundation, and others.
