Raghu Raj Kumar

Dr. Raghu Raj Kumar is a Bharatanatyam dancer who began learning dance in 1988, and has had 16 years of training and 22+ years of experience in classical dancing. He has learnt Bharatanatyam under Guru Smt. Rajalakshmi, Guru Dr. Sanjay Shantaram and Guru Smt. Brunda Iyengar. Being a popular male dance artist in Karnataka, India, he began training students in 2001 at Shivashakthi School of Dance, Bangalore. Continuing his dance in USA, Raghu collaborated with University of Wyoming’s Theater and Dance group to teach Indian classical dance to students at Laramie, Wyoming. He also volunteered to teach Bharatanatyam in Laramie from 2012-2014. Currently, Raghu is in Fort Collins, CO, volunteering to teach Bharatanatyam to students at Kalapriya School of Dance. He has his PhD in Electrical Engineering from University of Wyoming. He works at National Center for Atmospheric Research as a Project Scientist, accelerating weather and climate models on supercomputers.
