Don’t Go Pitching Without One: Your Financing Narrative

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Feedback form is now closed.

Raising money is never easy, but a strong starting point helps as the initial conversations around your financing needs will go a long way in determining the effectiveness of your fundraising efforts. To help get off on the right foot, you need a financing narrative: A succinct presentation of the key facts potential funders and investors will want to know quickly.

The narrative covers such elements as:

  • where does your business stand today
  • what is the need
  • what are you willing to sacrifice for the cash

Your clear grasp of these concepts and others will help you streamline your pitch on what’s important to this focused audience.

The session will follow a workshop format: I'll explain the eight elements of a financing narrative, take questions and then turn you loose on a worksheet (posted here) that covers the eight elements. Toward the end of the session, I'll ask for a couple of volunteers to share their narrative.

Many founders and company leaders are so mired in the day-to-day of their business they neglect the path(s) to growth. I help facilitate growth at small companies with strategic thinking, effective messaging and smart communication efforts.
