Why are we so inspired by individuals making an impact at the community level but ignore seismic events like the Arab Spring? Why do we forget 99 percent of all we learn in history textbooks but vividly remember the same events as described in historical fiction? Why are we more moved when we hear the plight of a single person than we are by millions living in squalor? 

For 20,000 years we've used stories to connect with one another, make sense of a confusing and often frightening world, and to bring meaning into our lives. There are perfectly healthy people who don't like sex, chocolate, or Chopin, but EVERYBODY loves stories. Stories also have a disproportionate influence over our decisions--even in business and economic contexts.

In this Startup Week session, I’ll provide practical insights and guide you through a couple of exercises to help you harness the power of storytelling in business and beyond. ... Even if you don't have a liberal arts degree.
